We are aware that as with any market place there are cheaper variations avaiable; however there are always hidden costs both financial and ecological.
Wildflower seed mixtures that are available at a cheaper rate are often cheaper for a number of reasons:
The low cost mixture has only a handful of species per mixture
The low cost mixture is 'cut' with cheap fillers
The low cost mixtures often include grass seed and non-native wildflowers which are agriculatural and horticultural species which are not suitable for wildflower meadoes
The low cost mixtures require a higher sowing rate
Kreye's Design By Nature's seed is all sourced from Ireland and is all of native origin to the United Kingdom; each of our seed mixtures contain between 20 to 50 different species of 100% conservation grade wildflower seed - there are no grass species in any of our mixtures.
All of our seed is Conservation Grade - this means that all of our seed is collected from the wild and brought back to a nursery where growers grow on first generation wild plants, all crops are then destroyed and seed is re-collected for the next sowing of commerical crops. This method of conervation is the Irish excepted standard to grow and protect wildflowers as though these methods, wildflowers are kept wild and not cultivated.
